EAGLESTAR!SMALL GINGER AND WHITE SHE-CAT WITH AMBER EYES* BIOGRAPHY* ETYMOLOGY: The prefix 'eagle' comes from her ginger coloring, which reminded her mother of an eagle she had seen when she was an apprentice. The suffix 'star' is because of her leader status, but her warrior suffix, 'stripe', came from the white stripe of fur down her belly.
PERSONALITY: TEMPER >> Eaglestar is a she-cat with a temper. If something angers her, she makes sure you know it, and isn't afraid to stand up for herself if challenged. When angered, she often resorts to physical means to let out some steam- such as pacing back and forth, tearing apart moss, or even destroying the apprentices' den (see history). A temper is usually not a trait that is valued in a leader, but her reputation to be easily angered has helped her gain the respect of the other Clans.
LOYAL >> Eaglestar, despite her temper, is fiercely loyal. There is nothing in the world she cares about more than her Clanmates and keeping them safe, though sometimes her temper clouds her judgement and she leads them into unnecessary battle. She feels the effects afterwards, though, and there is nothing she hates more than watching her Clan suffer. She has a strong 'no cat left behind' policy that she developed in her warrior days, and will never abandon a Clanmate, not for anything in the world. This is both a blessing and a curse, for while she will never leave a Clanmate behind, she sometimes risks the lives of others in doing so.
GRUDGES >> Eaglestar is one to hold grudges, especially against herself. If a cat wrongs her, she won't soon forget it, and isn't afraid to narrow her eyes in their direction every once in a while. With her being the leader, her Clanmates are generally respectful of her, though they are still careful not to get on her bad side. She isn't very confident in her own ability, and still holds a grudge against herself for the untimely death of her former apprentice.
INDEPENDENT >> Eaglestar is an independent she-cat. Ever since she was a kit, she has grown up pretty much on her own. Because of her small stature, she wasn't allowed to play with her brother and sister as much, to her dismay. She had grown to know how to take care of herself, though, and doesn't like to admit to needing help. She often goes hunting or patrolling on her own, though she really doesn't mind the company of a few other cats.
INTELLIGENT >> Eaglestar is an intelligent, crafty she-cat. In all the time she spent alone as a kit, she often spent time deep in thought. She has always been a very logical cat, which often clashed with her mentor Willowstream's more hopeful, wistful personality. She can be bluntly honest about her beliefs, which hasn't earned her any points with some of her Clanmates. She often dwells on her mistakes, though she learns from them, and she is able to devise clever strategies in battle.
HISTORY: One greenleaf, a she-cat gave birth to a litter of three kits- two she-cats and a tom. That she-cat was Minnowsplash, a black and white warrior of RiverClan. Her mate, Flamefoot, a bright ginger tom, was present at the birth to welcome his three new kits in to the world. One of the kits, the tom, was black and white like his mother, with his father's green eyes. The larger of the she-cats, a tortoiseshell she-cat, also had green eyes, though her coloring came from both her parents' combined pelts. The last kit, a surprisingly small she-cat, was a dark ginger color like her father, with white splashes across her fur like her mother, and her mother's amber eyes. The tom was named Splashkit, the larger she-cat was named Spottedkit, and the petite she-cat was named Eaglekit, for her dark ginger pelt, which quite reminded her mother of an eagle she had seen as an apprentice.
Despite her small size, Eaglekit grew up healthy, as did her siblings. They all opened their eyes at reasonable times in their kithoods, and before long, they were romping and playing as kits always do- but Eaglekit was often banned from such rough activity because of her small stature. Her mother, a worrier, was afraid her kit would get injured playing with her larger and more muscular siblings. They were the only other kits in the nursery at the time, so Eaglekit was often bored. She took to watching the medicine cat for long periods of time, and for a while, Minnowsplash was sure that her kit would be picked to be the new medicine cat apprentice.
The mother waited for her kit to say something about her apparent desire to be a medicine cat, but Eaglekit never spoke a word, and before Minnowsplash and Flamefoot knew it, their kits were ready for apprenticeship. Splashkit and Spottedkit became 'paws first, and were given their very own mentors. Eaglekit was last, and given the name Eaglepaw. Her mentor was decided to be Willowstream, a silvery gray she-cat known for her adventurous spirit. The leader at the time, Graystar, was confident that the reckless warrior would become a bit more responsible in having an apprentice... though he turned out to be wrong.
As Eaglepaw trained, her and her mentor often got into debates and arguments about various things: the warrior code, the duties of a warrior, and such. Eaglepaw was the logical mind, and in a way, her mentor learned some kind of responsibility from her apprentice- just not the same kind that Graystar was hoping for. Mentor and apprentice didn't get along well, but this just improved Eaglepaw's training, as she constantly tried to best her mentor in hunting, fighting, and anything else that they may do. By the time she was ten moons old, Eaglepaw was an accomplished apprentice. However, her mentor's behavior had rubbed off on her.
Eaglepaw had grown to be an independent and selfish she-cat. She often argued with the other apprentices and tried to convince them to give her the best nest in the apprentice's den, or even to complete some of her duties for her. This didn't go unnoticed by Graystar, and he gave Willowstream a stern talking to, in which her mentor learned to smarten up and become more responsible for her apprentice. After a particularly nasty incident between Eaglepaw and several other apprentices, the feisty she-cat was given one of her first official punishments as an apprentice- her warrior ceremony was to be delayed one moon.
This made the young apprentice furious, and she took her frustration out on the apprentice's den, tearing it to shreds with her claws and teeth. She was then forced to, as another punishment, help repair it. The moon went by excruciatingly slow, though Willowstream wasn't so cruel as to delay her training. Eaglepaw continued training hard, though her mentor ensured that they didn't argue with each other as much as they had in the past. When her moon of punishment was up, Eaglepaw was ecstatic. Graystar called a Clan meeting for a warrior ceremony... but only called Splashpaw and Spottedpaw forward. They were given their warrior names- Splashfoot, after his father (who had died in a border skirmish just moons previously) and Spottedflower after her gentle nature. Enraged, Eaglepaw demanded to be told why she had not become a warrior as well, to which Willowstream replied that she had still had one moon of training left to go when she was given the punishment, meaning she had one more moon until her warrior ceremony.
This made Eaglepaw once again furious, and she tore up the apprentice's den once more, to the dismay of the other apprentices living there. She was forced to repair it as punishment once again, and given a stern warning that one more outburst and her warrior ceremony would be delayed further. Eaglepaw reluctantly remained calm for her next moon, training hard and pretending not to notice her brother and sister carrying out their warrior duties.
And finally, the moon was over, and her warrior ceremony arrived! She was called forward by Graystar, and given the name Eaglestripe, in honor of the white stripe of fur down her stomach. She could barely concentrate through her vigil, resisting the urge to bounce around and perform every warrior duty possible.
The next few moons went by fast, as she did her part in hunting, patrolling, and generally being a warrior. She loved the new respect that her status brought her, though she was often teased by the senior warriors for her childish demeanor. Over the moons, though, Eaglestripe grew more and more mature, responsible, and overall protective of her Clan. She had always been a fiercely loyal she-cat, and in her first border skirmish, she had to practically be pried off a ThunderClan warrior who had insulted RiverClan.
Eaglestripe felt she was living the dream, that is, until her twentieth moon of age. A litter of kits had been born, and they were now ready to be apprenticed. At the ceremony, the young warrior was granted her first ever apprentice, a black tom named Reedpaw. Graystar thought it would help calm her down a bit, as it had with Willowstream many moons before. Eaglestripe's former mentor was now known to be a great warrior, and much more responsible than she had been when she first received an apprentice. Eaglestripe, however, was not pleased about being granted an apprentice, and procrastinated training him.
It was a quarter moon after his ceremony when she finally gave into the begging and pleading on Reedpaw's part, and the scolding on the other warriors' parts. She began training the black tom, who was already far behind his siblings. Much like Willowstream and Eaglepaw many moons ago, Eaglestripe and Reedpaw were two completely different personalities, yet they helped each other grow. Eaglestripe gained more of a sense of maturity from her apprentice, and took more responsibility for her actions. Reedpaw, once shy yet irritating kit, became more outgoing, and not afraid to stand up for what he believed in. By the time Reedpaw was twelve moons old, both he and his mentor were proud of the cats they had grown to be.
It was a common fact that Reedpaw's warrior ceremony would be any day now, and Eaglestripe was eager for her apprentice to finally reach the goal that she herself had once worked so hard for. To help calm his nerves, the she-cat decided to have him patrol alongside her more often. One evening, Eaglestripe was set to lead a dawn patrol consisting of just her, Reedpaw, and a newly appointed warrior, Dawneyes. She led the patrol around the ThunderClan border, hoping to scout out Sunningrocks, which RiverClan was eager to recapture for themselves. The patrol recklessly crossed the river onto the territory, seeing as there were no ThunderClan cats present. What they didn't expect was a sudden ambush from a border patrol that happened by.
The battle was a short one, but it was brutal. Eaglestripe escaped with a deep gash on her shoulder, and a slice across her forehead that dripped blood in her eyes. Dawneyes escaped unscathed, save for a few bite marks on her tail. Eaglestripe had sent her to get help, and the young warrior had been bit as she ran. By the time back-up from RiverClan had arrived, though, the ThunderClan patrol had also sent for more warriors.
The RiverClan cats retreated, returning to their side of the border and to their camp. It was here that Eaglestripe remembered Reedpaw... and noticed that her apprentice was not with them. She burst out of the medicine cat's den where the medicine cat had been tending her wounds, and rushed back to Sunningrocks calling for her apprentice. By the time she arrived, though, no cat was in sight. She searched for what seemed to be hours before finding her apprentice in the shadow of Sunningrocks, hidden from plain sight. From what she could see, he had died quickly, but that didn't ease her pain. What if he had still been alive when they fled? What if she had remembered him earlier? Could she have saved him?
She dragged her apprentice's body across the river and back to camp, cursing herself the whole way. As one last tribute to the fallen apprentice who had died fighting bravely for his Clan, he gave him the warrior name Reedheart, in honor of his strong spirit that could not be broken. Much of the camp sat vigil for the fallen apprentice, though Eaglestripe sat a bit away from everyone, hating herself for what she had done.
Sometime in the next few days, the medicine cat assured her that the death had been a quick one, and other warriors- even Reedheart's mother- promised her that it was not her fault, and that no one blamed her. Eaglestripe didn't hear a word of it, though. She hated herself for abandoning her apprentice, and ever since his death, as always had a no-cat-left-behind attitude. Any situation that questions that attitude always reminds her of her apprentice, and she feels herself grow sad once more.
But Eaglestripe knew she could not mourn forever. She had a Clan to take care of, and she worked her tail off trying not only to make up for time spent mourning, but to take her mind off Reedpaw. It was two moons after the apprentice's death when the Clan's deputy, who had grown old and was not strong enough to continue his rank, backed down. Graystar appointed Eaglestripe in his place, much to everyone's surprise. The leader justified his appointment by saying that, even though Eaglestripe was young, she had wisdom far beyond her years.
When Eaglestripe was appointed deputy, Graystar still had a good three lives left, and the chances of him losing all three lives in her lifetime was only half and half. It was rare that a deputy survived to become leader, she thought. She had seen that theory proven enough in the other Clans. But moon after moon passed, and Graystar grew weaker. He lost lives to sickness, injury, and old age in general before finally joining StarClan. Eaglestripe sat vigil for the deceased leader, feeling that he had been almost a father figure to her during her short lifetime.
Eaglestripe visited the Moonstone and took on the name Eaglestar, something she had never expected to do. As a kit, she had never had ambitions of becoming leader. In fact, her mother's suspicions were right- she had considered becoming a medicine cat. But by now, she valued her warrior training and her Clan too much to give up her warrior status for the sake of herbs and healing. She was a warrior, and nothing else. Her nine lives were granted to her: one from Flamefoot, one from Minnowsplash, one from Willowstream (who had died of greencough sometime in Eaglestripe's deputyhood), one from the deputy before her, one from Spottedflower (who had died in the same greencough bought that killed Willowstream), one from a senior warrior who used to tease Eaglestripe when she was an apprentice, one from an elder who she had always gone to for stories as a kit, one from the medicine cat who she had spent her kithood watching... and one from Reedheart. In StarClan, he was rejuvenated, a striking black tom with a brave personality. His life was one for loyalty, to not only the Clan but to those that she loved. He promised her that he did not blame her for his ill fate, and that he had not suffered. He was okay, and she was free to stop mourning.
Eaglestar returned to RiverClan free from the burdens of her past, with nine lives and a loyalty within her that could not be quenched.

AMBEREYE!BLACK SHE-CAT WITH PALE AMBER EYES* BIOGRAPHY* ETYMOLOGY: Amberkit was jet black, like her father, and her eyes were the same blue that all kittens had- but her right eye had a distinct amber splash in it that gave her the prefix 'amber'. This same splash grew bigger as the moons passed. Her left eye took longer to turn amber, which in the end earned her warrior name.
PERSONALITY: FEISTY >> Ambereye is a feisty she-cat, and likes to do things her own way. She finds it hard to follow orders, which has made life as a rogue so much more appealing to her. She dislikes when others try to overpower her, or boss her around, and will make a big deal of snapping at them for it, no matter what their rank. This often caused fighting with her brother, as she refused to show him any respect, even when he gained a position of authority over her.
SENSITIVE >> Ambereye takes almost everything personally, which can be quite the flaw. She gets offended, angered, or bothered fairly easily, and it takes quite a bit of coaxing to convince her that no harm was meant. Ambereye is also a proud she-cat, and she hates nothing more than admitting she was wrong, or doing anything that could humiliate her. She doesn't respond well to being embarrassed, and has demonstrated that quite well in her past.
IMPATIENT >> Ambereye hates to wait for things, and for this reason, isn't always the best hunter. She likes to be in constant motion, chasing her prey or doing something useful. Lying around doing nothing has never appealed to her, nor will it ever. She is a hard worker, and when she puts her mind to something, she accomplishes a great deal- as long as she can do it lightning quick and without having to wait for anything.
COURAGEOUS >> Ambereye is a bold she-cat, and is quite courageous. She doesn't think twice about putting herself in danger to accomplish something that she feels needs to be done. She doesn't, however, like to risk her own life for the sake of something that she doesn't believe in, and anyone that tries to force her to do just that will have their ears clawed. She likes to be her own judge, and will only show courage in situations that she feels deserves it.
HISTORY: Amberkit and Wildkit were born to Brightstripe and Blackfur, two warriors of ShadowClan. From the start, the kits couldn't have been anymore different. Wildkit was a tortoiseshell, and the traditional blue eyes that bore the kitten soon turned an obvious shade of yellow-green. Amberkit was jet black, like her father, and her eyes were the same blue that all kittens had- but her right eye had a distinct amber splash in it. This same splash grew bigger as the moons passed. Her left eye took longer to turn amber, which in the end earned her warrior name.
But back in time about twenty or thirty moons: Amberkit and Wildkit didn't get along. They argued over who was better at play-fighting, who got the best piece of prey that their father picked out for them, and other kitten stuff in general. They had no love for one another, and it only got worse as time went on.
Amberpaw was eventually apprenticed to Russetclaw, an experienced brown tabby with a few prominent battle scars. He was the kind of cat to work out a thorough plan, and then rush into battle, which had earned him a very suiting warrior name. His traits mirrored in Amberpaw as she grew older. Russetclaw pushed her to the brink, and the workaholic in Amberpaw loved every minute of it.
As she grew and trained, Amberpaw grew distant from Wildpaw. She thought of him as just another apprentice, maybe even less. Of course, he would always be her brother- and for that reason, she felt the need to outdo him at anything. But any conversation between them was brief and to the point, and that was the way the apprentices liked it.
Amberpaw was soon granted her warrior name, Ambereye, and was proud to be able to serve her Clan more- and finally be able to sleep in the warriors' den. What really irked her was when Wildfur was granted his first apprentice... and she was left with nothing. She still blames her lack of having an apprentice for her not becoming deputy, and constantly curses both the late Redstar, her brother, and herself for not gaining the rank for herself.
As a young warrior, and an independent one at that, Ambereye often took it on herself to patrol on her own, looking for prey or enemy warriors, whatever she could find. It was on these solo expeditions that she began seeing Hunter, a strange brown tabby that had taken up residence on the edge of ShadowClan territory. The two hit it off right away, and eventually, she became pregnant with his kits.
A few moons after Silverpaw gained her warrior name, Wildfur was named deputy. Ambereye sat in silence as the ceremony was said, and bit back cursing and taunting. She was deep in thought, pondering how to tell her brother about the new life in her belly. It was in this way that she invited him to accompany her into the woods. It was here that he taunted her, and gloated about his new rank. Her original mission forgotten, she attacked him. The struggle was brief, but both cats gained deep scars. After the battle, Wildfur chased her off, and Ambereye ran.
It was the night she had been driven off when Ambereye decided to double back and meet Hunter. They could leave the Clans, she thought wistfully, and start a life of their own. This dream was short lived, though, for when she found his den, it had been long abandoned. There was blood near the entrance, and she could smell ShadowClan cat all over the abandoned den.
It was then that her wistful personality turned cold, skeptical, and cynical. Her mate was dead, and her kits were the only thing left. But her heart truly broke when she gave birth, and all the kits were stillborn. It hurt even more that all but one of them took after their father. She buried the bodies on the edge of ShadowClan territory and fled, a rogue, wandering from place to place. It was now that she realized just how much she missed her brother, and how lonely her life was to become.

JAYFLIGHT!LARGE BLACK TOM WITH GREEN EYES* BIOGRAPHY* ETYMOLOGY: He received the prefix 'jay' because of his blue-black coat. He earned the suffix 'flight' because of his strength and agility in battle, much like a large bird in flight.
PERSONALITY: Life hasn't been good to Jayflight, and he's been cruel right back. He doesn't believe in love, and doesn't trust very many cats, seeing as he was betrayed by one he loved at a young age. He empathizes with others, though he is rarely willing to do this. He relates well to other apprentices, especially ones with the same diehard personality he was known for, and he is determined to save cats from the same fate he met- he feels there is nothing worse than being forced from the life he wanted. Jayflight has shades of obsessive compulsive, and can be a perfectionist. He hates doing things wrong, and will often change a cats' cobwebs or herbs until they just seem 'right' to him. His superiors have scolded him for his precision in this- other medicine cats "just slap the cobwebs on, and are done with it" according to them, and his attention to detail can be irritating. Jayflight tends to hold grudges, and takes things personally even when no harm was meant. This could be his undoing one day. He does, however, have his good qualities. He is passionate about what he does, and is an overall clever cat. He can sympathize with other cats when others cannot, which is an odd trait, considering his personality.
HISTORY: Mousefoot and Stormcloud were two completely different cats. Mousefoot was feisty, light on her feet and willing to face any danger. Stormcloud wasn't as brave as his mate, but he had physical strength and brute determination on his side. That's why it came as a shock when Mousefoot became pregnant with Stormcloud's kits.
The romance was short lived- Stormcloud became good 'friends' with a timid ginger she-cat named Squirrelleap. Mousefoot was forgotten to the tom, and she was left to suffer her pregnancy by herself. When the time came for Mousefoot to give birth, Stormcloud was on a patrol, though no one felt it necessary to notify him that his former mate was in labor- he had shown little interest in his kits in the past moons.
Unfortunately for Mousefoot, her ex-mate's large build had passed on to this kits. She lost a lot of blood in the birthing process, and died shortly afterward- but not before choosing names for her healthy offspring. The firstborn, a large black tom, was named Jaykit. His sister, a large dappled gray and white she-cat, was named Dapplekit. Stormcloud barely twitched an ear at the news of his mate's death.
Jaykit and Dapplekit were adopted by a surrogate mother, Silvercloud, Her own kits had been small and sickly at birth, and had died around the same time Mousefoot passed away. Silvercloud nursed the kits and raised them as her own, and she was a very loving mother.
The kits became apprentices at the age of six moons, and because of the lack of warriors that were open to mentor apprentices, Dapplepaw was given her father Stormcloud as a mentor. Jaypaw's mentor, Ashbreeze, was a beautiful gray she-cat with a temper that could keep even the bold young apprentice at bay. Dapplepaw grew closer and closer with her father, and they became well acquainted, though they never mentioned Mousefoot. Jaypaw was jealous of the relationship between the two, and Ashbreeze knew it. She went out of her way to take her apprentice wherever his father and sister weren't. This only made him angrier, and one day, he even dared to attack his mentor.
Before a formal punishment for the apprentice could be decided, a battle with ShadowClan broke out over a claim of stolen prey. Because of the lack of warriors in camp at the time, Ashbreeze reluctantly allowed Jaypaw to join the fighting. WindClan was loathe to let the other Clan win in their claims.
In the battle, Jaypaw started to fight a bulky brown tabby whose name he didn't know. The tabby obviously had no love for WindClan, and he left Jaypaw with a large, deep gash running from his left shoulder to the inside of his left hind leg. The cut had damaged muscle tissue, and it was bleeding quite heavily. Jaypaw was brought back to camp, and after intense care from the Clan's medicine cat, was finally told that his warrior days were over.
This was the worst event in Jaypaw's life. He had been dead set on becoming a warrior, and was loathe to retire to the elder's den at his age. So he remained a normal cat, not a warrior or apprentice or elder or anything. He was simply an injured former warrior-in-training, unable to walk very far. In the battle, Stormcloud was killed, which resulted in Dapplepaw being immensely upset and Squirrelleap mourning for her lost friend.
It was during this time that Jaypaw's empathetic nature shone through, and he comforted Squirrelleap, despite his dislike for his father. The two soon grew to be friends, and the ginger she-cat took the responsibility for helping Jaypaw learn to walk again. After a few moons, while he still had a devastating scar and an obvious limp, he was able to get from one place to the next. It was clear that he and Squirrelleap had developed feelings for each other during this time, and they likely would have become mates, if it wasn't for what happened next.
The Clan's medicine cat, Tawnyeyes, was growing old and had not found an apprentice in his lifetime. He approached Jaypaw and pressured him to become the new medicine cat apprentice, much to the ex-warrior-in-training's dislike. Jaypaw hadn't given much thought to what he would do with his life now that he couldn't be a warrior. He was able to walk again, but too much exertion would easily reopen the wound and he still had a limp that would limit his ability to hunt rabbits or fight well. The Clan's leader spoke to him as well, and the pressure on him to take the position was growing.
He let the decision hang for another moon, in which he and Squirrelleap got along well, and were friendly to each other in general. During this time, however, she took a mate- Dapplepelt's new mentor, Rabbitstep, a pale gray tom nearly half her age. Jaypaw, furious at this betrayal, accepted the position for medicine cat at once. He only had a moon or two of training, during which he was given his medicine cat name, Jayflight, in honor of his skill in battle when he was younger. A few moons later, when Jayflight was nineteen moons old, Tawnyeyes died, leaving his apprentice in charge of the Clan's healing.
A few moons after this, Rabbitstep picked up a cough, something that Jayflight found was to his luck. The medicine cat took this opportunity to feed the warrior a fatal mix of herbs, and disguise Squirrelleap's mate's sickness as greencough. Rabbitstep died slowly, and Jayflight loved every minute of it. Squirrelleap mourned her mate, but when she tried to fall back on Jayflight as his friend once more, he turned her away. He had a new calling, and it was as a medicine cat. But he still had the clever mind of a warrior, and her betrayal was not forgotten on him.
Forty or so moons later, Jayflight is still the Clan's medicine cat. As far as he can tell, no one is aware of Rabbitstep's murder- they're all convinced it was a greencough related death. Jayflight has grown to be cold to others, afraid that one day, he might be hurt again.
